MANZINI – Even the Royal Swaziland Police could not stop the banned Manzini Wanderers supporters meeting held on Saturday.

The gathering took place at Manzini Library at 4pm with over 30 supporters who were in attendance. Disbanded National Supporters Committee vice-Chairman Majayivane Dlamini chaired the meeting.

Before the meeting started, a uniformed police officer came to the scene to warn the fans that their meeting was illegal. However, the defiant supporters heard none of it and told him that he must come with something tangible from the court which declared the meeting null and void. The police officer told them that he was only sent by the management to convey the message. He walked away after failing to convince the Weslians fans.

Dlamini, who chaired the meeting, made it clear from the onset that the agenda was about the team’s inconsistent performance in the elite league.
“I want to bring everyone up to speed on the agenda of this meeting. The team is falling apart and we can’t watch Wanderers perish when we are staunch supporters. We need to find a solution as true supporters,” said Dlamini.

He further promised the fans that everything that was discussed would be taken to the relevant authorities with the hope of a mutual decision being reached.
One fan, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said it was painful to see the team not performing up to their expectations.
“This is not good at all. They have axed the foreign players who used to make the team tick and they could not give us proper explanation.

We need answerers and it is a pity that they deemed this meeting invalid yet we are true Wanderers supporters at heart,” said the fan.
Another fan was concerned why the management banned the meeting when it was meant to help find lasting solutions to the team.
