‘BOMBER’ FOR FA ELECTIONS IN JUNE

MBABANE – FA President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa has given the best indication that he might stand for the elections in June when the organisation goes to the polls.

He made the thinly-veiled hint when he implored Mbabane Swallows that their performance in Botswana would reflect on his office given that this was an elective year.
He was speaking as he bade farewell to the capital city giants as they sojourned to Francistown to face Orapa United in the CAF Confederations Cup first leg where it remains to be seen if he would stand for another term or not.

The event was attended by FA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu, FA executive Committee Member Sonnyboy Mabuza, PLS Executive Committee Member Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula, PLS Acting CEO Petros Vilakati, Swallows officials and players.

“We know what you are capable of and we can boldly say that we are already looking beyond Botswana in this competition. This being an elective year for the FA you should know that your performance will reflect on the president,” he said.
He said the good performance of the team in the domestic league was a positive indication of the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) development.

“As Victor has alluded to this week that Swallows provide the majority of players for Sihlangu, this augurs well with what we have always said that all the development programmes should benefit clubs,” he said.

Mthethwa, who returned to football’s top position in 2015, has been re-elected three times, and is set for a fourth consecutive term in office.
He could have been lost to football though had he won the election for the Swaziland Olympic and Commonwealth Games (SOCGA) presidential position which he lost to Peter Shongwe.

Before that, there were already candidates who were being jostled around as potential replacements for Mthethwa as FA president.
