MBABANE – The Swaziland National Sports and Recreation Council (SNSRC) has hailed former Swaziland Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA) president Robert Zombodze Magagula for his outstanding leadership.

Magagula stepped down as SOCGA president last Sunday during the associations’ Annual General Meeting (AGM), having served the organisation for over a decade.

SNSRC Media Officer, Dumisani Ntiwane said yesterday that Magagula has taken SOCGA to new heights during his term in office.
“Before the election of the new office last Sunday in Lobamba, Magagula had dedicated his life to serving the association with all he had. I say with all he had because the man had been at the helm of the organisation for the past 16 years.

“It was not by luck that the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) recently awarded him a medal of honour under the outstanding sports leadership category,” said Ntiwane.

He then expressed his joy that Magagula will still be serving in the SOCAGA Board, noting that this will be a plus for the incoming new board members who were elected the past Sunday.

“We say thank you sir for serving your country so well and so diligently! The good thing is that Magagula has not been entirely lost, as he is still a member in the new SOCGA Board.

As noted by the former president in his speech just before the elections, SOCGA has made great strides over the years. Certainly greater strides since the disengagement of the merger with the then Sports Council that had been made.
