LOBAMBA – Form is temporary but class is permanent as proven by Young Buffaloes’ striker Ndoda Mthethwa yesterday at Somhlolo National Stadium.

The veteran former Manzini Wanderers and national team Sihlangu goal poacher netted a brace to see out of the exciting Ingwenyama Cup knockout quarter-finals First Division side Malanti Chiefs. He scored once in either half before he was rested by coach Dominic Kunene later in the second half. He was on target in the 10th minute after capitalising on Malanti’s shaky defence’s failure to clear a searching cross by former Bad Boys winger Bongani Mhlanga.

The failed clearance saw the ball drop in Ndoda’s feet right inside the six yard box. His job was so easy, he passed an empty net with the keeper nowhere close by. He completed his brace three minutes into the second half with a similar finish as the first half.

This time, Malanti struggled to deal with a corner kick as their keeper came out but in vain. Mthethwa pounced on a short clearance inside the box to shoot into the net from inside the six yard box. The opposition made a little response but never threatened as Buffaloes were water-tight at the back. National team goalkeeper Nhlanhla Gwebu never made any save the entire 92 minutes of the game but the game itself was exciting to watch for the more or less 2 000 crowd.

The army side, Buffaloes, forced three good saves from Malanti keeper Mpendulo Dlamini otherwise it could have been worse.

The result means Buffaloes have joined fierce rivals Mbabane Swallows, surprise package Tambuti and Manzini Sundowns in the semis. As for the fans, they can buckle up all week for the semi-finals this weekend and bring smiles to sponsor Sincephetelo MVA Fund.
