MBABANE – In what was a moment of saving the best for last, the pair of Theo Mason and Peter Cooper ended what was an action-packed season with an astonishing 54 points to be crowned January Masters.

It was the highest score of the season and with another record field of 64 braving the rainy weather to end the season on a high – it was just the icing on top of the cake.
The cheers that accompanied the announcement were not only of the winners but the scores, were close to lifting the roofing of the Mbabane Golf Club.

It was a remarkable scoreline in what was a competitive day, with Sibusiso Shongwe and Wandile Ntombini close on their heels with another impressive 50 points for the runner-up spot.
Coming third was the pair of former MTN staffers Khulile Dlamini and Mpumelelo Makhubu, who carded 49 points. Winning on a count back was Swaziland Sugar Association CEO Phil Mnisi who was paired with Gordon Bennet who carded 48 points.

Nelisiwe Dlamini, who was paired with Peter Dlamini, earned a podium finish with 48 points.
She was one of five female golfers who featured yesterday, who included MTN Brand and Sponsorship Manager Fisiwe Vilane.
Speaking on behalf of the sponsor, Vilane hailed the historic field of 64 which she said was the best of the year.

“The minister of Sports when launching the season in February last year, stressed the need for more female golfers. Looking back at 2016 we want to believe we have done well especially today where we had five female golfers,” she said.
