LOBAMBA – Both teams lost their opening fixtures last weekend, and were optimistic of earning their first three points the season, only to settle for a goalless draw.

The forces sides; Young Buffaloes and Green Mamba lost to Mbabane Swallows and Royal Leopard by a solitary goal respectively. Their tie yesterday saw them having too much of the ball, but failing to trouble each other.
For Green Mamba, it was more than getting the points but breaking their jinx against the army side. However, it was all a mission impossible as both sets of teams defended well nothing got behind them.

For the pace of the match, goals are the only commodities that the match lacked, as the players dished up carpet football. They did that with aplomb but in the end the scoreline is a true reflection of the game as they all lacked the creativity to break the defences.
A handful crowd watched the game and had to take all the boring play from the two sides in the first half as none created real scoring opportunities.
Both goalkeepers were never tested in this half but Green Mamba looked more dangerous going forward with their possession football and pace only they lacked in the final third.

In the end, it was a forces’ derby that Buffaloes have dominated according to head-to-head statistics and the onus was on Green Mamba to break that jinx. However, it was a share of the spoils which leaves both sides with one point in two games.
