MBABANE – With the news of First Division League side RSSC United changing name to Matsapha United, confirmed star midfielder, Papy Tshimbimbi, who was listed as one of their targeted players, is missing at Mbabane Swallows training.

Papy, who was among the best players for Swallows last season, is a well-established midfielder in the country after just one stellar season. He won four knockouts with Swallows but since preseason began two weeks ago, he has been the subject of speculation.
A visit to the red and white outfit’s training ground yesterday morning, the Umkhonto KaShaka, as Swallows are fondly known, were taken through their paces by assistant coach Siyabonga Bhembe at the Prince of Wales. But there was no Papy. Interestingly, he had just been reported back after attending the second series of the club’s Gabi Gabi Trophy Tour last Friday at Nhlangano and Siphofaneni. He had missed the first tour at Mpaka, Siteki and Big-Bend the previous weekend. This prompted the club’s boss Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze to even say some players needed to be educated about the importance of such events, responding to a question on the player’s absence.

He also did not train with the team the previous day and sources close to the team said Gamedze, who always watches their sessions, was aware of his absence on both days. Gamedze recently made headlines saying it categorically clear that not one of the players, as long as they remained valuable, would be joining a local side and that includes Papy.

Efforts to get the player hit a snag but his club’s CEO Sibusiso Manana downplayed the player’s absence saying they expected him back at training today and claimed the player was in South Africa before saying they still had up to Friday to monitor the situation.
