‘SWAZI BOLT’ VS JUSTIN GATLIN

MBABANE – It may be a mismatch on paper but on the track in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, there is a distinct possibility that our 200 metres sprinter, Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa, could meet American heavyweight Justin Gatlin.

Attach no blame to people who would say this is a mismatch made in Rio, because that could be very much true given the ability and sharpness of the American. Matsenjwa, therefore, should rightly go to the Olympics to seek improvement rather to conquer these speed merchants. It remains to be seen what shall transpire on the track but honestly speaking, there can only be one winner in a duel like this one.

Hopefully, if Matsenjwa is drawn in a field that includes this monstrous sprinter, he could perhaps run a good time to enable himself to qualify for round two of the heats as, perhaps, the best third place finisher.

Don’t get it wrong - all Swazis will be banking on hope that ‘Swazi Bolt’ does well in Rio but whether he pulls it off against what stands to be a fiery field of the 200 metres, begs for the intervention of the gods of the Amazon.
Let’s compare Gatlin’s recent performances going into the Olympics against that of our own ‘Swazi Bolt’:
