‘BOTSOTSO’ JELE, MANYATSI’S TEAMS CROWNED CHAMPIONS

MANZINI – Soccer legends ‘Botsotso’ Jele and ‘Botsotso’ Manyatsi are back in the spotlight after helping their teams win the inaugural KFC Football Beat 5-a-side tournament.


Manzini Club Sports Ground was a hive of activity as giant fast food outlet, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), brought youngsters aged 15 and younger together to sweat it out for supremacy yesterday.

Jele, who starred in midfield for Manzini Wanderers during his heydays, helped an Under-15s girls team styled Shakin’ Shakin’ to scoop gold.
Manyatsi, who made a name for himself at left-back in Mbabane Highlanders’ colours, guided his Under-13s female team identified as Sprinkle Rangers to the championship ahead of Cream Ball United led by All-Star Ladies’ Gciniwe Fakudze, who is also Matsapha Town Council CEO.


Names of some of KFC scrumptious meals and snacks were given to the team. They included Boxmaster led by Sasha Groening, while Ntombi Mhlongo was in charge of the equally ‘yummy’ Twister.


 At least 96 players had made the cut following activations at the various participating KFC outlets.  After meeting their coaches and fellow teammates in the past week during a training day, the youngsters got down to real business in yesterday’s decider.
After a fun-filled day, the champions were furnished with their prizes that include artistic miniature trophies and medals. 


Presenting the prizes was guest, Pat Muir, who is Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Training while Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister, David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala, also made a stop at the venue earlier on the day to encourage the youngsters. Also present was KFC management led by Area Manager, Emmanuel du Pont.
