MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders are ready to let go want-out South African winger Patrick Meso but not for anything less than E500 000.

The talented crowd favourite went AWOL three weeks ago a few days before the decisive MTN League first round game against Red Lions.
His team was due to play Red Lions, which they still beat 3-1 in his absence and took home the prize of E300 000.

The player, in an interview thereafter, said he left because his salary was not enough to sustain him and his family, needs.
“He remains our player with six months left on his contract as it runs till June 2016 but we won’t stop in his way if he feels he has a better offer. What we’re certain about is we will be meeting him soon and we’ll make it clear he can go for a price of E500 000 to whoever signs him,” said the club’s Managing Director, Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane.

Simelane, who is renowned for his no- nonsense attitude towards officials and players who misbehave and let him down, minced no words, saying Meso was undoubtedly one of the best players they signed this season but he had failed the team.
“We will meet and talk to him soon and are aware he is trying out at Moroka Swallows. We wish him the best of luck and hope wherever he gets a deal, they’ll come back to us because we value him highly and he remains a Highlanders player,” he said.
He insisted that  they were not a one-man team but trusted every player they signed and will be getting more good players or even better than Meso this time around if they go beyond the borders.

About reports linking the team to a South African striker from Pretoria to replace Meso, he downplayed the matter but said they were looking to sign one sharpshooter this window period.
A number of local stars have already been linked with the club on social networking sites with most saying Meso will land at the opposite end as opposed to Moroka.
However, names of these players cannot be listed here even though social networking sites have named them and are talking of surprise swap deals.
