MBABANE – His nickname is ‘Mr Fix-It’. Certainly in need of drastic fixing, it remains to be seen if he is the man to do it for struggling Manzini Wanderers. That is the hub giants’ latest and new coach in former Orlando Pirates’ and Zimbabwean Shepherd ‘Mr Fix-It’ Murape.

Do not be shocked or surprised, it is a true story! Murape, aged 66, started drilling the ‘Weslians’ yesterday afternoon with immediate effect after his appointment. Where is Jerry ‘Mbazo’ Gamedze? you are probably asking yourself now.

At Wanderers, they do not want the words ‘sacked’ or ‘axed’ so they diplomatically put it saying he had been reverted back to his technical director position, which he held before he was announced as head coach less than three weeks ago, taking over from South African Kenny Ndlazi. Gamedze was appointed along with two assistants, Velekhaya Mthethwa and Anthony Mdluli, but has only been in charge in their last game which they lost 2-0 to Manzini Sea Birds – his first game should have been the 2-1 win over Malanti Chiefs, but Mthethwa was in charge.

Now Murape is the man calling the shots and his first game will be against Green Mamba. He has already had his first training with the team and officially introduced by the club’s Management Committee (MC), our sources, who happen to be the team’s supporters at the training ground, revealed.

“We’re not complaining but we were stunned to see a new man training the boys and upon asking around from the players and officials at the training ground, they said he was the new coach and used to coach Orlando Pirates,” said one of the sources.
Another said: “He is a much-travelled coach from what we heard, and rich with South African football background where they say he coached various teams, including Pirates, as assistant coach.”
