LOBAMBA – Midas City were four minutes from a memorable scalp over defending MTN Premier League champions Royal Leopard, when they suddenly went to sleep.

They allowed Royal Leopard’s on form playmaker Mathokoza ‘Tokyo’ Thwala to steal the thunder from the Caleb Ngwenya-coached charges with a stunning brace in the final four minutes of the game.
Wearing an all orange kit, City deserved something from the game, after frustrating Leopard for the better part of the game.

They had a simple game plan, which was to soak the pressure and catch their opponents who were without Zweli ‘Mlilo’ Nxumalo and Mxolisi ‘General’ Lukhele through injury.
They scored the first goal against the run of play, with the creative Mancoba Maseko beating Ncamiso ‘Mbhonyo’ Dlamini with a stunning strike at 20 yards out. Leopard tried to push for the equaliser, but found Midas City skipper Ndumiso Tower Ndaba hard to beat at the back.

Coach Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane pulled out Sabelo ‘Nyasa’ Sangweni for Muzi ‘Mzoro’ Dlamini and the move gave them the attacking edge they were seeking. They drew level eight minutes from the recess through overlapping left back Sikhumbuzo ‘Chaka’ Ntimane who stabbed home a pass from Mthunzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo at five yards out.

The joy was short-lived as Midas City forced a corner at the opposite end, and from the Khetho Mkhontfo corner kick Simanga nodded home unmarked at the back post, with goalkeeper Mbhonyo at sea. From there, Leopard laid siege at Midas City’s goal area, but the defence proved impenetrable.

But, with four minutes left on the clock, Tokyo was allowed to control at 14 yards and blasted a low shot past Phephisani.
At the time, it appeared that the police side were content with getting a point, until Tokyo once again pulled a rabbit out of a hat with a half volley strike that rested at the far corner of the net for a surprise win. The goal no doubt proved to be the sucker puncher and City were justifiably disappointed at leaving the pitch without a point.
