MBABANE – The National Football Association (FA) is set to make around E50 000 from the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) registration of players alone.

The registration of each player, according to the 2015/16 MTN League rules and regulations, stands at E100. The PLS has 24 affiliates across its two streams; being the Premier League and the National First Division. Teams are allowed to register up to 30 players, inclusive of five foreigners.

On average, local teams register 20 players to cut costs. This means that on average the FA will rake in E48 000 from this exercise. Article 2 (4-5) of the rules and regulations states that the registration fee shall be E100 per player which shall be exclusively paid to the FA and that all participating players shall be registered with a PLS club.

The rules continue under the same article that all PLS clubs shall be affiliated with the organisation by paying an annual affiliation fee amounting to E500 per club. Such affiliation fee shall be paid on or before the first registration of players from that club for the season. This means that the PLS will make E12 000 from affiliation fees and a further E480 000 from clubs which shall be used to cover the allowances of referees and match commissioners.

Premier league teams will pay E25 000 each which sums up to E300 000 while National First Division sides will pay E15 000 which will make E180 000.
Half of the amount shall be payable before the start of the MTN League and the balance shall be payable before the beginning of the second round.
