MANZINI – Sprinter Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa continues to shine for the country at international level.

The fastest man in the country was the first Swazi to win a gold medal in the ongoing SARPCCO Games at Mavuso Sports Centre yesterday. He finished first in the 200m in 21:32 seconds to defend the title he won in 2013 in Namibia. Matsenjwa will today compete in the 100m.

Team Swaziland has so far won three medals as the others came from Mlandvo Shongwe and Temalangeni Dlamini. Shongwe finished third in the 200m, winning a bronze medal in 21:61 seconds while Temalangeni Dlamini finished third in the 200m to win a bronze medal in 25:38 seconds.

Matsenjwa promised that even today he would make sure that the country’s national anthem is sung.
He said he was ready for the 100m.

A country that wins a gold medal during the competition then has its national anthem sung.
“I’m happy that I won the gold medal but I never expected such a tough competition. I hope I will be at my best tomorrow (today) in the 100m to also win a gold medal. I have to make sure that I defend both my titles,” he said.
