4 RSP ATHLETES IN 400M FINALS

MANZINI – The duo of Luis Mashaba and Thabani Mdluli are hoping to snatch medals for the country in the 400m finals today.


They qualified for the finals together with Temalangeni Dlamini and Nomile Dlamini yesterday. The 21-year-old Mashaba qualified with a time of 47:20 seconds, while Thabani Mdluli made it in 50:10 seconds. The 400m finals will be held today, starting at 9am at the Mavuso Sports Centre.


In the ladies section, Temalangani Dlamini qualified in 57:60 seconds, while Nomile Dlamini finished in 1:02:00 minutes.
Mashaba said he was hoping for the best in the finals. He said he was aware that the competition will be tough but is looking forward at winning a medal.
“It won’t be easy. I will fight hard to at least win a medal for the country,” he said.


Some of the events to be staged today include 800m, 1 500m, 3 000m, 100m, 5 000m and relays including both the 4x100m and the 4x400m.
The Southern Africa region police games started in the country on Thursday and end on Sunday.
There are over 1 000 athletes who are competing in the different sporting codes.
