MBABANE – Members of Parliament (MPs) will this afternoon debate the much talked about E250 King’s Super Cup entry fee in the House of Assembly.

The motion, which will be raised by Mahlangatsha MP Bongani Hlophe, will be debated as a motion of privilege under Standing Order No.58 this afternoon.

This was after an attempt to have it debated on Monday by Hlophe failed because Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala had left the house.

Deputy Speaker Esther Dlamini told the members that the debate would be short, but it was very important that the MPs debate it as it affected the soccer loving Swazis.
The one day tournament will be held at Somhlolo National Stadium featuring two Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates against Mbabane Swallows and Royal Leopard respectively.

The winners of the ties will face off in a final later in the day.
The inaugural tournament seeks to strengthen and celebrate the existing relationship between Swaziland and South Africa, which dates back to the reign of King Sobhuza II and Queen Labotsibeni. The first batch of the 10 000 tickets to be sold in the country will be released on Friday at Shoprite stores for local supporters until next Tuesday.

A seat in the VIP area will cost E500 and part of the proceeds from the tournament. It was said that would go towards establishing a football development fund that will assist youngsters to realise their dreams in the sport.
