MATSAPHA – Players of teams from South Africa have been a cut above the rest in the tournament which was played for three days.

The fourth edition of the annual Swaziland Invitational International Basketball Tournament (SIIBT) was played at Mavuso Sports Centre, UNISWA Kwaluseni Campus Multipurpose Hall (MPH) and the Ligcabho Lemaswati Sports Emporium where the finals were also staged on Sunday.

While SA teams Tshwane Suns and V and J, respectively, took home the men and women division crowns in what was their first time participating, their players formed a majority of the All-Star teams.

Each All-Star team had five players, with two U and J players in the women’s team, while Suns had three players in the men’s team.
Furthermore, the winners of the MVP (Most Valuable Player) Award in both categories came from these teams.

U and J’s forward Takalni Mfamadi took one, while bulky centre Larry Jackson of Suns took the other trophy to cement their dominance.
On the other hand, KTA from Lesotho was given the Sportsmanship Award for the males while the thrilling Mozambique Under-16 girls’ outfit was given the same.
