MATSAPHA – The Golden Foot Club athletes to represent the country in the 2015 Comrades Marathon are eager to make the country proud.

The athlete targeted to at least bring home silver medals from the event to be held on Sunday from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. The athletes attended a farewell function yesterday held at S & B Matsapha before their departure today for the event.

Golden Foot Club Mbabane coach Sifiso Mdluli will be competing in the 90km race for the second time. He said last year he clocked 8:54 hours and this time he would do his best to finish the run below eight hours.

“I prepared well for the 2015 Comrades Marathon and I’m confident that I will make it in less than the eight hours. Attending the race is not all about winning but the fun and promoting healthy living,” he said.

Golden Foot Club Manzini athlete Nozizwe Mulela said she will also be attending the Comrades Marathon for the second time. She said she aims at finishing the race which is about 90km.

“For me it is for health and fitness but also helps develop my life skills such as patience, perseverance and being friendly to others,” she said.
