MBABANE – Only players from heavyweights Royal Swaziland Police (RSP) and Correctional will represent the country in the Africa Netball Championships.

All eyes will be on Namibia between June 28 and July 5 as the continental tournament takes centre stage. Seasoned players who include Correctional’s free-scoring goal attacker (GA) Londiwe Mhlanga and RSP’s impressive trio of skipper, Hlengiwe Bhembe, Phindile Sithole and Ncamisile Dlamini have made the cut.

National Netball Association of Swaziland (NNAS) Secretary Simangele Motsa confirmed the national outfit yesterday. “We’re finalising the team’s training programme which will start on June 1.

“Full logistics of the trip will be released once everything is in place. If all goes according to plan, we’ll leave on June 26.”
The team will be led by veteran player/coach Thobile Nzama, from Correctional while Clifford Ngomane has been appointed manager.

Other notable players in the team are Correctional’s Jabu Khathwane, Tengetile Dzimba and Ncobile Sithole, who also showed resolve during the recently ended preseason tournament. The national side, ranked 133rd in the world, last featured in an international tournament during the unsuccessful World Cup qualifying campaign in Gaborone, Botswana in September last year.
