TWO-BEDROOM HOUSE AWARD FOR ‘CHOCCO’

MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders have announced a splendid surprise for Captain Xolani ‘Chocco’ Sibandze; a two-bedroom house at his home.

The surprise was announced by the club’s Managing Director Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane during a supporters’ meeting held at MDS High School Hall yesterday morning. The project will start next month, according to Simelane, who said they were awarding the player’s loyalty and determination to the club.

This comes just two weeks after the player walked away with E15 000 for the Chairman’s Award during the MTN League prize presentation. The PLS boss commended the player for sticking with the club, to the point of going down with it to the National First Division League.
Simelane said the team was only showing its appreciation to the player.

“We have decided to surprise ‘Chocco’ as a team, for his loyalty that was also recognised by the PLS Chairman. As a team we want to build him a two-bedroom house at his home. We will be talking to him and his family so that they can show us the place where we can build the house. He has been exemplary to his peers and we want to award that so that others can see that loyalty pays,” he said.
The about 200 supporters who were at the hall applauded and cheered as the chairman made the announcement.

The player was called later in the day, and said while he would definitely appreciate the team’s gesture, he would prefer to wait for them to formally brief him.
“I would prefer to wait for the club to inform me on the issue, because currently, I am hearing from you, then I will have to properly thank them in return,” he said.

The player was among those heaped with praise by the both management and supporters during the meeting.
One supporter said the player had been a good ambassador of the club at Sihlangu’s recent COSAFA Cup games.
