RUSTENBURG – After his sterling performances in the ongoing regional COSAFA Cup, there were bound to be offers for Sihlangu captain Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze.

A South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) side is currently leading the race to sign the fiery winger in a deal, whose value could exceed the E1 million mark.

The squad’s inspirational skipper, who won the Man of the Match award during Sihlangu’s opening game against guest nation Tanzania last Monday, has already been approached by Platinum Stars officials with the view of luring him to join the money-spinning side based in this modest mining town more or less 200 kilometres north of Pretoria.

“Whatever you do, do not tell the world,” joked one of the Stars officials at the 42 000 capacity Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace on Wednesday night. This was soon after Sihlangu’s emphatic 2-0 win over Lesotho in their second game of the tournament.

“Seriously though, he is one player we are so surprised is playing in Swaziland. Everyone in South Africa knows Tsabedze well. We do not know what went wrong and we really do not want to dwell on the past but we want to give him a chance again because we know this man has a lot to offer.

“What trial? Tsabedze can never go on trial anywhere in the world. He will be offered a season’s deal because of his age and mainly because of the team’s policy. However all is still at its infantry stages now because we are even yet to approach his club Mbabane Swallows. We do not want this to appear like we are looking down upon the Swazi team because we are not,” said the official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Interviewed later by South African journalists, Tsabedze said should the right offer be tabled, he would not hesitate to put pen to paper.
“In football one can never say never because anything is possible. If the conditions are right, I can never refuse to come and play here,” said the soft spoken star.
