MBABANE – In the first of its kind locally, Mbabane Highlanders now have their own CD of a single track titled Gwaza Nkunzi, which sold like hot cakes at the Somhlolo National Stadium among the team’s fans.

The CD, which comes with just the single track, was produced and composed by DJ Chuidy, a local spinner who played for the first time during the second round MTN League derby match this past Sunday.

He also distributed a few free copies to some fans before they were sold at E35 each. The CDs sold like hot cakes as most of the Highlanders’ faithful left the stadium with it. It is a song that relates to the team and football with some of the lyrics going ‘Angikase ngalibona libhola lelihle kaso’ before the chorus Gwaza Nkunzi, by a female vocalist.

It is a house compilation by the spinner, which the fans loved and welcomed with some realising that South Africa’s Orlando Pirates also had a album of their own songs recorded in a CD but for them it’s several tracks while here it is only a single. “It is a wonderful initiative and we’re happy that our supporters welcomed it with both hands as they all wanted to lay their hands on the disc.

It’s a very nice song, especially for our youth as they can now dance and party to their own team’s house song,” said Highlanders PRO Celucolo ‘Dino’ Dlamini.
The DJ, who was also behind the decks when Highlanders drew 2-all with Swallows, it was established, was paid E2 500 for his services on the day at the stadium where over E140 000 was collected.

Reached for comment, he said he was currently working on a full album for the team just like Orlando Pirates did in South Africa.
