MBABANE – Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) Chairman, Victor Gamedze has told the Board of Governors that he has never assaulted anyone in his tenure as the PLS boss.

Gamedze was notably put on the spot by one board member and vocal PLS critique Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows Chairman Charles Matsebula during the Board of Governors’ meeting held at the Sigwaca House on Thursday evening.

“As the Board of Governors, we deserve to know what really transpired between our chairman (Gamedze) and Mbabane Highlanders Chairman ‘Rubber’ (Simelane). We also deserve to know whether it is it true that the matter is really with the police or not because we have only been relying on media matters yet this is a sensitive issue.

“Unfortunately, even the media reports have not been conclusive because at one point they reported that there was a never an assault between the two then the next, said there was one. It is fortunate that both gentlemen are here and we can hear it from them as to what happened on the day. Was there any assault?”

In his response, Gamedze said even though he would not go into the merits of the matter that happened on the day at Somhlolo National Stadium in December last year, he made it clear that he never assaulted anyone.

“Any right thinking person would know that had such happened, I would have resigned from the position. How can I assault someone in close proximity of about 200 people, and to make it worse, with some of the country’s highest authorities in attendance? How could I have stooped so low? I would have been like a bride missing her own wedding with such behaviour.
