STOP THE LIES, GAMEDZE WARNS GOVERNORS

MBABANE – Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) Chairman Victor Gamedze yesterday read the riot act on misbehaving teams’ directors.

Propaganda, lies and deceit were slammed by a majority of the Board of Governors, who had attended last night’s meeting, which was held at Sigwaca House. Gamedze said it was imperative for every Board member to know what his position means.

He said they had noted with concern escalating bad behaviour from the people who were supposed to be leaders in the sport.
“Let us do away with the lies as governors and leaders of the teams because this does nothing but only helps to taint the image of our brand as an organisation. Moreover, this tends to incite violence among the supporters because supporters believe everything said by their team director.

“If I had it my way, the Board of governors would speak 80 per cent truth and only 20 per cent lies because lies are damaging and can cause irreparable damage to the game. At the moment, we have noted a crusade of lies by some directors and this we will not tolerate. We should be aware of the kind of positions we are holding,” said Gamedze.

He noted that the recent shenanigans that marred the PLS did not do justice to the organisation’s ranking by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
“Most of you may not even be aware that the ranking was based on the image of the league mainly. Right now we should be worried what rank we will be in following all what has happened. We are, however, proud that Royal Leopard are hoisting the country’s flag in the continental competition, which gives us pride as a league,” said Gamedze.
