SIYATICHENYA NGE-LEOPARD YETFU

My dearest readers... Words, like a ghost, often cast their shadow ahead of those who own them.
You can either swim in their wisdom or drown in their foolishness.

Given the ruckus in the Judiciary corridors of power right now, it is almost impossible not to recall the never-to-be-forgotten words of Prime Minister Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini telling editors in a breakfast meeting how proud they were of Chief Justice Michael Ramodibedi. “Siyatichenya nga-CJ wetfu!” the premier was quoted saying. I wonder if he still does but this is not a political commentary. I digress.

I am a sucker for football but this grandson of Mlonyeni could not help but borrow the words of the premier in heaping lavish praises on Royal Leopard for their continued amazing march in the CAF Confederations Cup.

In fear of sounding like a stuck record, let us once again put everything aside for two minutes to give Royal Leopard a rousing extol for snatching another improbable victory against one of the best teams in Africa, AS Vita, on Saturday. The police side defied all odds to snatch a 1-0 victory courtesy of another strike by Mthunzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo two minutes before half-time to send shockwaves around the African continent currently engrossed by xenophobia or as some experts are already calling it – afrophobia.

Mkhontfo, already a hero having scored the lone goal that knocked out another top side in Angolan outfit, Pedro De Luanda in the second round, pounced on a defence freezing pass by Man of the Match midfielder Zweli ‘Mlilo’ Nxumalo, outsprinted a static defence, came face to face with the goalkeeper, held his breath, picked his spot and slotted home from close range. It was a terrific finish by the former Midas City midfielder nicknamed after that Spaniard industrious midfielder from FC Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez.
