’LANDERS FANS BAY FOR EX-MC MEMBERS’ BLOOD

MBABANE – Two former Mbabane Highlanders Management Committee (MC) members got more than they bargained for when they were chased away and threatened at Somhlolo National Stadium on Sunday.

The two had gone to watch their favourite team play against Super League side KoNtshingila United in the preliminaries of the SwaziBank Cup. However, they ended up running for their lives, as incensed Highlanders’ fans bayed for their blood.

The two, Sikelela Mhlanga and Maxwell Masuku, now live in fear of their lives, as they told the Times yesterday in the company of Bheki Jele, another of the people accused of having masterminded the disappearance of the players.

They now live a hellish life as they always have to look over their shoulder each time they venture into public areas.
“One of the fans at the stadium even drew a knife and pointed it towards my direction. It is unfortunate that the media missed this incident but I felt we were no longer safe. The fans hurled all sorts of insults towards us and one wonders why because all that has been said about us is lies,” said Mhlanga.

Masuku, on the other hand, also felt his life was in danger.
“The things some of them say are really worrying. Some of the fans, who do not even have an idea of what really transpired, have taken to social network where they insult and threaten us daily. It is now more than we can take,” he said.
Highlanders are on record accusing unnamed officials of playing a crucial role in the ‘disappearance’ of the two players,  on the eve of the team’s MTN League second round clash against Manzini Sundowns which was played at the Mavuso Sports Centre about two weeks ago.
