TWO TOUCH ARE DUPS 7-A-SIDE CHAMPIONS

MBABANE – Two Touch were crowned champions of the Dups Direct Insurance 7-a-side New Year tournament after beating Rufaro 1-0 in the final.


Two Touch’s winning goal came via the boot of Sibusiso Dlamini with five minutes remaining before full time. Each half was played for 15 minutes. The champions team was dominated by Hhohho Regional Swazi Trac Super League side Tinyosi FC players.


The tournament started with 32 teams and yesterday only the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final were played. The winners were presented with the first prize money of E5 000, floating trophy and gold medals, while the runners up received E2 000 and silver medals.
The tournament was sponsored to the tune of E15 000 by Dups Direct Insurance and it started on New Year’s Day.


Two Touch reached the final after having beaten Siwelele who were among the favourites 2-0 while Rufaro beat Aqu 1-0 to book a place in the final.
Meanwhile, Two Touch dominated the individuals’ awards.

Their coach Jomo Dlamini was named the Best Coach while their striker Sibusiso Dlamini was named the Best Player of the tournament and he was also crowned the best striker. Dlamini scored six goals in the duration of the tournament.


Their goalkeeper, Njabulo Dlamini, also walked away with the Best Goalkeeper award. He also received a South Africa’s Absa Premiership side SuperSport United goalkeeper replica jersey and gloves from William ‘Cool Cat’ Shongwe who was the guest during the tournament.

Funny both teams are from Lobamba. Rufaro is SUB in the promotion and Twotouch is Tinyosi. But there is no team in Lobamba that ever played in the PLS. Sad.
