PIGG’S PEAK – Prime Minister Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini has described what happened at Somhlolo National Stadium last Sunday as very unfortunate.

Dlamini, during a press conference, said he was unhappy that the match had to end in the manner it did because the game had been a good one.
“The football on the day was good and it was a clean game and I even said that when I was interviewed early that the game was an excellent one,” said Dlamini.

The PM although, was specifically asked if he had seen what had caused the eventual fracas said he was actually also expecting media to inform him what had gone wrong because they were also in attendance.

Dlamini was speaking at the closing ceremony of the five day retreat held at the Pigg’s Peak Hotel yesterday.
However, the PM said as government, they could not interfere in football matters because even the football administrators had said they would carry out their own investigations.

He further said the mother body of football, FIFA rules, refused that there be any interference from government and as a result they would also await for the outcome of the investigation.

“We hope to hear from both the media and the administrators of football of the results and we trust that Cabinet will also be given a copy,” he said.
Dlamini, on a positive note, thanked the scores of fans who had attended the game, and said the game had been like a cup final because of the large numbers of fans.

He said football was meant to unite and should be fun and that it should not be spoiled by violent episodes.
