MAURITIUS EXPERT HERE FOR GRASSROOTS COURSE
MBABANE – Primary School Sports teachers will get to learn basic football skills, courtesy of the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS).
Visiting Mauritius Instructor Govinden Thondoo arrived in the country yesterday to man a grassroots course that will start tomorrow. NFAS Technical Director Boy ‘Bizzah’Mkhonta said identified teachers would start classes at the Technical Centre in Lobamba.
“There will be an opening ceremony on Saturday (tomorrow) at 9am. The participants are from schools in Mbabane and Siteki,” Mkhonta said.
Mkhonta said there would a festival in both towns. The first stop will be in Mbabane next Thursday.
“The grassroots programme is for children aged between six and 12.
“We commend all stakeholders, especially the Ministry of Education and Training for fully supporting the programme.” The initiative is driven by the world soccer governing body, FIFA. It seeks to bring the number one sport to many people as many as possible in an attempt to develop the game.
