MANZINI – The alleged killer of +268 musician Mazwi Myeni has been arrested again; this time for allegedly stealing a vehicle with music equipment at gunpoint near Zakhele Remand Centre.

The former Sifundzani Primary School sports teacher, Sicalo Hlophe,  who is currently out on bail for murder, allegedly stole a Toyota LDV that had sound equipment at the Zakhele Remand centre at gunpoint.
The owners were waiting for DJ Karly B Mamba on Friday night to check on the sound equipment.

Hlophe is alleged to have waylaid the two deejays outside Mario’s Pub N Grill as they were parked waiting for Mamba who was in the eatery.
Hlophe is said to have spun a heartfelt story on how he needed to rush back home at Zakhele as he had received reports that his child was ill and needed his attention.

“The men took pity on him as he also told them he had come for a night of fun at the club because he enjoyed music and had just received the bad news,” the source revealed.
It is said when the vehicle was near the Zakhele remand centre Hlophe first pretended he needed to get out of the car as he had reached his destination.
While he pretended to be alighting from the vehicle, he allegedly drew a gun and roughly told the two good Samaritans to get out of the vehicle before he sped off, leaving them stranded at the remand centre.
Hlophe is alleged to have proceeded to his home at Hluthi where he parked the stolen motor vehicle.

He was later arrested by Manzini officers under the Criminal Investigations Department.
In an interview, DJ Karly B said the two men, who were waiting for him outside Mario’s, had been sent by a friend so that he could test the sound system.

Hijacked

“I was waiting for a call from these two gentlemen as I didn’t have their numbers and they did not call me. I only learnt about the matter after receiving calls that the guys were hijacked,” he explained.
He insisted that he did not know the person alleged to have stolen the van and sound equipment at gunpoint.

Police Deputy Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed Hlophe’s arrest.
He said the former teacher was arrested on Friday night and is expected to appear in court today.

“The motor vehicle was found in his custody together with the music equipment that was still loaded on the van,” Mamba said.
Meanwhile, Hlophe allegedly killed pianist Myeni, a member of the music group +268 who went missing in August 2013.

The two men are said to have been arguing over the purchase of a certain motor vehicle when Myeni was allegedly assaulted by his friend with an unknown object.
Months later, a whistle-blower alerted the police that Hlophe had just left the home of a traditional healer where he was seeking help concerning the death of Myeni.
Hlophe was arrested and charged with the murder of the musician.
He was granted bail set at E15 000: E5 000 in cash and surety amounting to E10 000.
