KWAKHANGELA – About 500 Swazis accompanied Princess Fikisiwe, the new wife of South African President Jacob Zuma’s nephew Khulubuse, to her marital home at Nkhandla over the weekend.

The high-profile entourage led by King’s Praise Singer Cethuka Dlamini and Prince Mgcuciso among others, left the country on Thursday and made a stop at KwaKhangela Royal Residence, where the bride and her party were given instructions on how to conduct themselves at the Zuma homestead at Nkandla.

At Kwakhangela the bridal party was well received by Undlunkulu Manftombi, who also advised them on how to conduct themselves during the ceremony. At least two bulls were slaughtered for the delegation to feast on and the group was also provided with restrooms to prepare themselves for the three-hour drive to nkhandla.

The large entourage travelled in six 60-seater passenger buses, four Toyota Quantum minibuses and about 20 privately-owned sedans filled to capacity. The lengthy motorcade snaked its way through the treacherous mountainous road past Eshowe through to Nkhandla.

Although the drivers made every effort to stick together, a bus and several Quantums took the wrong turn and drove several kilometres towards Richards Bay before they turned back and caught up with the other buses. This delayed the arrival of the bridal party at Nkandla as the other group waited for about an hour for the lost group.
They finally reconnected at about 10pm near Eshowe town. They arrived at the Zuma homestead at Nkandla at 12:05am on Saturday.
