Shanice Reed is only 21 but has achieved more than most girls her age. She holds qualifications from Limkwokwing which include Mechanical Engineering, Architect certificate and a PR Diploma.

She is the new face of a new institution set to assist the youth reach their academic goals, this is Master Retailing. The organisation was launched at the Trade Fair last year and will also be there again this year to teach the youth about other study options. “Basically, this programmes allow one to study for certificates from Form III upwards. We offer bridging courses for the young students who then qualify to study or degree programmes. The best thing is we are internally recognised and with over 1 000 students graduating at the local universities with the same qualification which is your basic law, one can study the retail business instead,” she says.

Born and bred in Manzini, Shanice is proud to be the ambassador of Master Retailing as she believes the local youth deserve a chance to explore all career opportunities. “We must not be competing for the same jobs but we must equip ourselves from as young as 16 years to get into the job market. I did not believe it at first as locally, we have that system of spending over five years in university yet we are doing something that won’t even make one stand out. These courses are  the best and can open doors to many opportunities,” she said.

As the co-director with the main director based in South Africa, Shanice is also learning managerial skills at a young age. “I encourage anyone who wants to better their lives to come to the Trade Fair. It will be a great way to learn more about the courses we offer. There are discounts for those paying cash or in instalments. We will have our stall there,” she adds.

The Master Retailing Institute says it shares in the vision 2022 that the county is aiming for. “We have to work hand-in-hand to ensure that  the entire country’s youth  is educated one way or the other. It may seem impossible but it is worth a try. If I have all these qualifications under my belt at these age, imagine if all young people decided to pursue tertiary education while in high school, it would mean a nation of young educated leaders,” she adds.
One can visit the stall today and learn more about this great academic opportunity.
