MBABANE – A visiting UK-based pastor has advised Christians to change their names to break away from ancestral covenants.

Reverend Anning is a Ghanaian-born pastor who has lived in the United Kingdom (UK) for about 19 years.
Anning is attached to the Fountain House Chapel International (FHCI) in the United Kingdom.

He was preaching at the Dzeliwe street branch of the Worship Centre from the evening of Friday 13, 2014 until yesterday morning.
The Worship Centre is headed by Apostle Justice Dlamini but an announcement was made that he would not attend. During the prayer service, Anning preached about the importance of having Jesus as the foundation in a Christian’s life. Anning said a foundation without Jesus was a faulty one. He said the challenge was that many Christians were facing problems because their lives were built on a faulty foundation.

Anning said Christians can deal with faulty foundations by breaking away from family altars, tribal, ethnic or ancestral covenants.
He said some of them had strange names because they belonged to a certain clan.

“Give yourself a new name,” he said. Anning said one of his friends had a very strange name, which had been affecting him but things changed when he gave himself a new name. “So one day he woke up in the morning and said his name was Osborne,” said the pastor.
Giving examples, Anning said some of them could use names such as ‘Sister Pretty’ or ‘Brother Breakthrough.’
Anning said many people were struggling because their lives were based on a faulty foundation.

He mentioned examples of how Christians can tell if they had a faulty foundation. Anning said one of the signs was when a person was what he referred to as demonic dreams.
He said not all dreams came from God as some were evil. “This can also happen if you watch horror movies,” he said. He said some of the problems run in the family. Anning said in his family, all the men cursed such that they died when they reached the age of 40, including his father. He said he managed to break away from the curse by fixing the faulty foundation.

Anning then warned married couples that some of their marriages were not working out because they were still connected to their former partners. He said they were physically married to one person but spiritually married to another. “You are saying you are married but you have your old girlfriend’s number,” he said. Anning then later prayed for all the congregants while anointing them with olive oil.

Meanwhile, Anning said a better ‘season’ was on the way for Swaziland. He said despite the country being very small, it would soon have a huge impact on the world. “A season of change and abundance is coming,” said Anning.

He also said it was amazing that although he lived in the UK, he felt very safe in Swaziland.
Anning said the country appeared to be very peaceful.

He also said he was amazed at the friendliness of the people.
“Even the water here tastes better,” Anning stated.

Oh please!....this guy must just sit down and shut up! The very same Europeans came to our countries in Africa and told us not to wear our traditional attire because it was demonic and they told us abortion and homosexuality were wrong and quite rightly because even the Bible says so. Today they have turned full circle and suddenly abortion and homosexuality are attractive and the best thing that people can do. But the Bible remains the same. So can people seriously trust anything from Europe or America?
Sorry bhuti we are African and our names are African and will remain just that.
Perhaps you can consider asking the Asians and Arabs to change their names. Maybe they will listen to you.
