MAN OF GOD BLASTS PASTORS
* Maswanganyi says preaching today all about performing miracles
* Pastors misuse church funds, lay hands on women’s private parts
MBABANE – Reverend Elijah Maswanganyi says today’s pastors abuse their fame by emphasizing more on miracles they perform than turning people to God.
Rev Maswanganyi, a famous South African pastor, said pastors nowadays were misusing church funds money and their spiritual gifts to heal the sick.
He said there were a few genuine pastors today.
Maswanganyi is concerned that preachers lay hands in prayer on sensitive parts of female bodies – below the belly - a part of the body that could only be touched by their husbands.
He was speaking yesterday during the ordination of Phil Mnisi, Rose Mazibuko and Elvis Ebere as pastors of the Alliance Church in Swaziland.
The service was held at Mbabane Alliance Church. Over 200 people attended the event.
Mnisi, a former employee of the Central Bank of Swaziland, is the Managing Director (MD) of Standard Bank Swaziland while Rose Mazibuko is the wife of Rev Johannes Mazibuko, the senior pastor of Mbabane Alliance Church.
Dignitaries in attendance were Prince Bandzile, Minister of Finance Martin Dlamini, Minister of Home Affairs Princess Tsandzile, MP Johannes Shongwe, Bishop Mavovo Mkhonto, a member of the Royal Board of Trustees and Apostle Robert Kasaro.
Rev Maswanganyi was the guest speaker. “You will hear pastors say people must come to them for healing but must be prepared to pay for the healing,” said Maswanganyi.
“Where did these pastors learn from because Jesus Christ never did that? Jesus never misused money, his fame and spiritual powers to heal people.”
He said some of the preachers lacked substance in their sermon.
Maswanganyi said they just preached in a loud voice, rolled on the ground and kicked the air for nothing as their sermons were literally devoid of substance.
He said this was caused by the fact that 85 per cent of church leaders did not have Bible school knowledge.
On another note, he said, he was privileged to lay hands on King Sobhuza II in the 80s and also prayed for almost all the prime ministers in the country.
Even then, he said, he had not changed the doctrine of the gospel he started preaching 46 years ago.
