SIKHUPHE – People who attended the official opening of the new King Mswati III International Airport on Friday were disappointed when the much-awaited air-show had to be cancelled.

The airshow had to be cancelled in the last minutes due to bad weather. On the programme, it was mentioned that the public would get the opportunity to watch various displays performed by aircraft and sky divers.

However, just before the end of the official opening of the airport, Prince Hlangusemphi, Minister Economic Planning and Development, announced that a decision to cancel the air show had been taken because of the unfriendly weather. The minister said the weather experts at the airport had indicated that there was the possibility of a storm and therefore, it would not be possible for aircraft and the skydivers to be in the sky.

When the minister made this announcement, most people were disappointed as they felt it was one of their main entertainment attractions. Soon after the announcement was made, some of those who attended the event went to the marquee where lunch was served.
