ZOMBODZE – Timothy Velabo (TV) Mtetwa’s extended family is looking for the family of Susan Groening.

Mtetwa, the acting Governor of Ludzidzini, confirmed that they were looking for the family of her former maid.
Even though he mentioned that he could not speak much because he was in a meeting, he managed to say: “I cannot recall how she initially arrived at my homestead but I tried seeking her next of kin, however, she never disclosed them.”

Groening, 68, said she arrived close to 30 years ago at Mtetwa’s homestead. She also said Mtetwa was still residing at Mafutseni when she joined his household as a maid. Groening later relocated with the family to Zombodze.
“I started long time ago to work for Mtetwa. When I arrived at his residence I was a maid,” she said.

She appreciated the assistance afforded to her by Mtetwa and said the acting Governor continues to pay for her medical bills.
The sickly senior citizen also revealed that she was from Maphungwane, Siteki and has no children.
Explaining, she said: “I am from Maphungwane, Siteki and have no children. I also do not have siblings as they all died. The only living relative I have is said to be residing in KaLanga, Siteki. She is my uncle’s daughter (cousin).”

Groening said she was hired by Mtetwa’s deceased wife, Thizi.
This was supported by Misho Mtetwa, who resides at the Zombodze Royal Kraal. Misho said Groening arrived in the Mtwetwa’s household around 1994 and at the time, she claimed to originate from Lukhula, Siteki.

Misho further said: “Gogo Groening arrived here in 1994 and she said then she was from Lukhula. Since she joined the family, she has never gone to her parental home.
“What happened is that she fell in love with a Mtetwa man who she cohabited with. However, she later returned to the traditional Mtetwa’s home when her boyfriend passed away.”

Misho said Groening was sickly when she rejoined the family. “When she came back she was sick and mkhulu (TV) paid her medical expenses.
“He helps out with her medical bills and provides transport for her whenever she has to go to hospital,” Misho explained.
Groening confirmed that Indvuna Mtetwa was assisting her with medical bills and transport. She also said the house she lives in was assigned to her by Mtetwa.

The senior citizen appealed for help in getting food.
She said she relied on the Zombodze Care Point and neighbours for food.

She continued; “I take medication and need to have a balanced meal; so, I appeal to the public who can help me with food.
“I also don’t know what I suffer from because at the hospital they fail to diagnose my disease.”
She also appealed to her next of kin to approach Mtetwa or the Zombodze Royal Kraal in order to find her.
