TEEN (15) FALLS OFF BICYCLE, DIES

MBABANE – A 15-year-old boy died a horrific death after he fell off his bicycle. The boy, Thabiso Hlophe, who was affectionately known as ‘Bhutibhuti’ met his death on Saturday at Mbangweni. He was a Grade VI pupil at Entuthukweni Primary School.

According to sources close to the matter, Hlophe and a friend were riding down the steep hill at Mbangweni, when they saw an oncoming car.

Drainage

The source said Hlophe tried to swerve his bicycle, and landed in the drainage next to the road. He was then flung off his bicycle and  hit an electricity pole. He died on the spot.
“The boy was trying to avoid an oncoming car, when he fell into a ditch. He then fell off his bicycle, and flew into an electricity pole,” the source said.

Confirmed

The deceased’s uncle, Mduduzi Malindzisa, confirmed his nephew’s death. He, however, said he did not have many details on the matter, as he was in Nhlangano when it happened.
Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Wendy Hleta confirmed the matter, and said Hlophe had been riding his bicycle downhill at Mbangweni when he tried avoiding an oncoming car. She said he was flung off his bicycle, and hit an electricity pole, and died on the spot.
