MBABANE - Following the end of the 2013/14 production season, the Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation (RSSC) Agriculture Division has awarded employees whose work results showed excellence.

The presentation of prizes, which included wheelbarrows, shovels, garden forks, and certificates, was conducted by the General Manager – Agriculture, Patrick Myeni, during the division’s end of year celebration ceremony held at Nsukuwansuku Stadium on December 13, 2013.
The event, which had entertainment provided by Poet Msandi ka-Baba and gospel musician Phathwakahle Mabuza, saw employees and management celebrating the end of a challenging season through sporting activities, dancing and feasting.

“Issues of climate change continue to be a challenge as we are beginning to suffer longer droughts, often accompanied by hailstorms, which have adverse effects on our crop and our existence,” said Myeni.

Other challenges faced by the team during the year, according to Myeni, included the manifestation of unknown pests and diseases in the region, as well as theft of irrigation equipment, inputs such as fertiliser, as well as fuel. He stated that, however, they were working tirelessly to ensure that they were ahead of the crooks.

Also attending the celebration were the RSSC Managing Director Nick Jackson, the Group Human Resources Manager Lomkhosi Magagula, Group Public Affairs Manager Sifiso Nyembe, among others.
