MBABANE – Most parts of the country yesterday experienced hailstorm and the most affected region was Hhohho.

Senior Meteorologist Dumsani Sithole said: “The storm developed from the Highveld and most areas that experienced the hailstorm was Mbabane and surrounding areas such as Ezulwini, Lobamba, Mhlambanyatsi, Ngwenya, Motshane, Pine Valley to name just a few.

“There will be no further hail threat today but it could rain today especially in the Highveld.”
Yesterday hailstorm lashed the country bringing with it hailstones to the size of a marble in almost all parts of the country.
Further storms that hit remote areas and other semi urban areas caused power outages momentarily but later on power was restored.

In Mbabane, the storm lasted for about 20 minutes with minimal damage except the power cut and telephone interruption, though momentarily. Hailstorm in the kingdom was last experienced on October 20, 2013 where the meteorological service department issued a warning to members of the public.

At Gege, Sidvokodvo and surrounding areas, Sithole said the storm was still experienced at around 4pm.
The senior Meteorologist further said farmers may now take advantage and plough crops.
