NGUDZENI – Ministers Dum-isani Ndlangamandla and Sibongile Simelane joined the Ngudzeni Free Evangelical Assembles congregation in prayer yesterday.
This marked exactly a week after their announcement as members of the Cabinet.

The occasion was special in the sense that this was the first service the duo attended since being appointed into Cabinet.
Special prayers were made for the ministers by the congregation, which was also pleased that the two were among them.
“It was just a normal service, and the congregation seized the opportunity to pray for us because we were also present,” said Minister Ndlangamandla after the service.

He commended the church for blessing them ahead of their duties at Cabinet.
Ndlangamandla, who is a former lecturer at Ngwane Teachers Training College, has been appointed to lead the ICT portfolio while Simelane is the new Minister of Health.

The two were active members of the Ngudzeni Free Evangelical Church at the time of being appointed ministers.
A senior church member, Pastor Magwegwe Mamba, confirmed that two of their members have been appointed into Cabinet, and that the church was happy about the latest development. “We feel honoured as a church by the latest turn of events but it is not only the church that should celebrate; as the community of Ngudzeni we have been blessed by the fact that even the Speaker at the House of Assembly, Themba Msibi, also hails from the area,” he said. Mamba said it was a first for the church to produce two members at the same time for posts in Cabinet.

In fact, he said the Shiselweni region as a whole should feel honoured because most ministers in the current Cabinet hail from the region, besides the two who hail from Ngudzeni, including the Speaker at the House of Assembly.
In an interview earlier on, Minister Simelane revealed that she, together with her husband, lead a sub-branch of the Ngudzeni Mission in Mahhoshe under the Ngudzeni Constituency.

She said she hoped the members of the church would be with them in prayer as they execute their duties at Cabinet.
“We would like to thank God, the Almighty for the appointments because we believe it was all because of his plans that we ended up in Cabinet. We hope that the other members of the church will be with us in prayer, as we execute our national duties,” she said.

Meanwhile Mdabede Matsebula, President of the Free Evangelical Church in Swaziland said as a church they were thankful to God for having their members in the country’s decision-making bodies.
“As you may have been aware that Swazis have been praying that they have diligent people in Parliament, and as the Christian community we believe that what happened were just God’s answers to such prayers,” he said.
