MANZINI – A house that allegedly belongs to a certain Martin Dlamini was burnt and six cars were stolen from the compound.

The police have told the court that the property belongs to a senior employee at the Ministry of information, Communication and Technology (ICT) who they identified as Martin Dlamini but they claimed they have not located him to make him aware of the damage.

A police officer yesterday appeared at the magistrate court and said they (police) wanted Dlamini in connection with the damage to the eight-bedroom house which was broken into and set alight.
The Malkerns police are looking for Dlamini to ascertain the damage at his home and also identify some of the recovered items allegedly stolen by the suspects. The incident is said to have occurred on September 20, 2013.

Five suspects have since been arrested by the police.
Thembinkosi Masuku (19), Sidumo Shiba (19), Tutwana Mkwena (27), Sikhumbuzo Dlamini (37) and David Dlamini (46) all of Ngodini were last week arrested in connection with the offences committed at Dlamini’s homestead. The suspects are said to have stolen six vehicles, a Mazda B2000 (E15 000), Jeep Cherokee (E35 000), Volvo Sport (E30 000), Suzuki Escudo (E12 000), Mazda B1600 (E5 000) and a Volvo 164 (E30 000).

It was gathered that the incident was reported by phone and Dlamini is said to have been not aware of the damage allegedly caused at his home by the suspects. His home, valued at E200 000 situated at Ngodini, Mahlanya, was burnt to ashes by the suspects who stole the six vehicles and abandoned them at the Re-Claim Scrapyard (KaNomakanjani) situated in Matsapha.

“The complainant has to report at the police station to identify some of the items recovered from the suspects. We do not know his whereabouts and have been trying to contact him on his mobile phone but in vain,” the police officer in charge of the case, Constable Poison Motsa said.
The suspect alleged to have burnt down the E200 000 house belonging to Dlamini is Masuku who was granted bail of E165 000 by principal magistrate David Khumalo.

The magistrate ordered that E15 000 should be paid in cash and E150 000 as surety.
The suspect was warned not to commit a similar offence while out on bail, must attend all bail hearings and surrender his passport at the Manzini police station until the matter is finalised.

David was granted E2 000 bail while Mkwena was given E2 900 bail by the court, the rest of the suspects did not apply for bail.
Other items stolen include a double door Defy fridge (E4 000), six tyres (E11 500), an electric stove (E2 500) and a water tank (E5 000) among other items.
