MBABANE - One of the EBC drivers was admitted at the Mbabane Government Hospital after sustaining serious injuries during a freak accident on Saturday.

The accident happened along the Mbabane-Ngwenya Highway.
Elections and Boundaries Commission officials who were on board heading to conduct nominations at northern Hhohho escaped with minor injuries.

Royal Swaziland Police Public Relations Officer Superintendent Wendy Hleta confirmed that an accident involving EBC officials had been reported. She said only the driver sustained serious injuries during the accident.
“Only the drivers sustained serious injuries. One of the passenger  was treated and discharged. The other passanger was admitted at the Mbabane Government Hospital, where he is currently recuperating,” Hleta said.

EBC Public Relations Officer Sabelo Dlamini said he was not aware of the accident yesterday. He asked to be given more time to consult with the staff. When called in the afternoon, his mobile phone was not available, hence his comment could not be obtained by the time of compiling this report.

The EBC conducted nomination processes for Bucopho, Constituency Headman and Member of Parliament over the weekend.
EBC’s Ncumbi Maziya said the nomination process had been a success countrywide.

Around 4 000 people have been recruited and are currently being trained on what can be described as election duty.
The recruitment process, however, was hand-picking individuals who were seen to be suitable for the job given the sensitive nature of the election process.
