MADLENYA – Former Siphofaneni MP Gundvwane Gamedze is set to run for the parliament race with Chief Mgwagwa Gamedze’s younger brother Clement.

Clement, 39, who works for SWADE as a Community Development Officer said he was ready for the challenge and wanted to give Gamedze a challenge. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences. Clement is also related to Gundvwane.
He said he wanted to give the erstwhile legislator a challenge.

Meanwhile, Mancoba Gamedze, a University of Swaziland graduate holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities  was also nominated for the position of MP. Mancoba, 28, is currently unemployed. He said he was fearless and expressed hope that he would make it.

Golfer Themba Magagula was also nominated for the position of MP.
About five nominees turned down the offer of being nominated for the position of MP, citing various reasons.

Wild scenes of jubilation were provoked when a woman raised her hand and shouted at the top of her voice that she was nominating former MP Gundvwane Gamedze.  The Presiding Officer Patrick Mkhonta watched in awe as he tried in vain to control the crowd that went wild, shouted, danced and sang.

Amid the hullaballoo, the Presiding Officer asked if the woman who nominated Gamedze had a voter registration card and she answered to the affirmative, and then asked the former MP if he registered and was willing to join the Parliament race.

Gamedze said he was willing. The Presiding Officer said nine of his supporters should go to register; chaos ensued as women scrambled to have their names registered by the registration clerks. Others danced while others sang their lungs out.

The women sang a song with the lyrics: “Ungasentelani nasikhipha Gamedze?,” which means, “What would you do for us if we removed Gamedze?”
