Robert Magongo a hot contender

MOTSHANE – Former Motshane Member of  Parliament (MP) Robert Magongo bounced back into the race to Parliament as over 30 people seconded his nomination.


The 53-year-old proved to be a very a popular contender because soon after his nomination, many people in Ndumo Royal Kraal, shouted that the nomination process should stop.
 There was no need to continue because the main man had already been picked.


The mere mention of his name as a nominee provoked some deafening screams of jubilation from across the field from both the young and old. Some stood up rushing to shake his hand and others just danced and shouted his name.


“We want Magongo! We want Magongo! that’s why we came. It’s over now, so let’s go home,” the people demanded.
Clad in a white golf t-shirt, blue denim and white trainers, Magongo was smiling from ear to ear absorbing the moment. He was literally mobbed by his supporters.
They all competed to queue behind him to register their secondment with the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) officials.


From the start of the day, some of the electorate unashamedly told anyone who cared to listen that the ex MP was the person to nominate. Magongo who was also there occasionally greeting attendants was a relaxed man.


“The people have spoken through their secondment that they want me back and I’m not going to play with their votes,” said the humbled ex MP.
After the jubilation over Mago-ngo’s nomination had died down other contenders emerged, such as Swelekile Shabangu, Tsetla Bhembe and Zanele Vilakati. They said they were not intimidated by the major support Magongo garnered.
