MBABANE – A majority of the royal kraals (imiphakatsi) will kick-start this year’s general elections with the nomination process on Saturday.

Sabelo Dlamini, the Public Relations Officer of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC), yesterday said almost all the royal kraals had picked Saturday as the day to conduct the first stage of the nominations.

Dlamini said the commission had no choice, but to settle for what had been tabled before them by the authorities of the various chiefdoms.
However, he stated that some of the chiefdoms had elected to state the nominations on Sunday.

Trusty Gina, the outgoing Member of Parliament for Nkilongo Constituency, will have to wait for Sunday to know whether she is nominated.
The same applies to Mbabane East MP Esther Dlamini and outgoing Minister of Labour and Social Security MP Lutfo Dlamini.

Dlamini hails from Nkamanzi Royal Kraal which falls directly under Ndzingeni Inkhundla. The nomination process at Lobamba and Ezulwini Royal Kraals will be conducted on Sunday as well.
