KWALUSENI – A promising 20-year-old pupil’s life was cut short after she was found with multiple stab wounds in a foundation trench, about 100 metres away from her homestead.
The senseless act of violence leading to the death of Nompilo Ndlovu, a Form IV pupil at Boyane High School is believed to have occurred on Friday night and her body was discovered in the wee hours of Saturday. The incident has left the young woman’s loved ones to grapple with the devastating loss. The identity of the perpetrator remains unknown, and the police are still investigating the case, which has left the community in shock and devastation.

Reports

According to reports, Nompilo had been restarting her Form IV studies at Boyane High School, with hopes of improving her future. She was found with multiple stab wounds on her back, and there are also suggestions that she may have been strangled. Maswazi Ndzimandze, the owner of the homestead where the body was found, stated that the incident occurred with little noise, which surprised everyone. “I personally did not hear any noise, and even the dogs did not bark on Friday night. However, a tenant mentioned hearing a woman’s screams, claiming she was being stabbed,” Ndzimandze reported.

The tenant is said to have attempted to investigate but saw nothing due to the darkness and returned to his house. The following day, while sweeping the yard, he discovered Nompilo’s body in the ditch and informed Ndzimandze, who then contacted the police. A visit was made at the Ndlovu family home, where members were found in a sombre mood. They expressed their deep grief and confusion over the motive and the identity of the attacker.

Perpetrator

“We are devastated. We went to the scene and identified our sister, but we are still unclear about the motive behind the attack or who the perpetrator might be,” a family member shared.
The deceased had been last seen at home on Friday night by her siblings, who reported that she had asked for a charger, as she was expecting a call before everyone went to bed. The family suspected the attack was carried out by someone with a personal grudge, given the severity of the multiple stab wounds. “The multiple stab wounds suggest that it wasn’t just someone she didn’t know. We are heartbroken over the loss, especially given our efforts to support her education,” they shared. Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni, Deputy Chief Police Information and Communications Officer, confirmed that a 20-year-old woman from Eten was found with three stab wounds in the back in a foundation trench at Eteni, Kwaluseni.
