LOZITHA - EmaSwati have continued to show love for His Majesty King Mswati III, as they showered him with gifts (tetfulo) worth over E10 million for his birthday.

Individuals and companies presented various amounts of money totalling over E6 276 000 and 105 cattle on Saturday. However, by yesterday, the number of cattle had increased to 113 while the money was still being consolidated. When sought for clarity, Ncumbi Maziya, who is part of the Resource Mobilisation Committee, said the figures were more than what was psesented since some companies and individuals brought cash and gifts during the course of the presentation. Maziya said the figure was likely to double. However, he said tetfulo were over E10 million, excluding the comodities such as cattle, tractor, goats, chickens and the furniture. He said the team was still consolidating the figures to come up with the total. Among those who presented cows to the King were Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, Deputy Prime Minister Thuli Dladla and Minister of Home Affairs Princess Lindiwe, among others. Cabinet presented the King with gym equipment worth E800 000. The King appreciated all the gifts, stating that they demonstrated love and unity. He said the nation would conquer all challenges as they remained united and loving to each other.

Meanwhile, some individuals, who presented tetfulo to His Majesty King Mswati III, used the opportunity to report pressing issues, one of which was unemployment. Sicelo Dlamini, who was the first to present a live chicken, openly told the King that he was hungry despite running a business. He introduced himself as the man who was fumigating palaces during the COVID-19 era, and stated that he was hungry. However, King’s protocol Officer Khandlela Mdluli was quick to remind Dlamini that the opportunity was strictly for tetfulo and not other issues. “Here is your Kentucky Fried Chicken,” Dlamini said when presenting the live chicken to the King. The ‘KFC’ was quickly adopted by all those who presented live chickens after him. Some individuals presented the King with cash ranging from E50. Some stated that the money was for airtime. “May the King give us the opportunity to meet and have lengthy talks with him,” said one of the women who presented E100 for airtime.

In response, the King said; ‘‘ngitawufaka le airtime bese ngiyanatisa’’, which can be translated to mean that; “I will load airtime and inform you about the right time to meet.” Other individuals presented fruits, vegetables, groceries, blankets, household furniture, tractor and cattle, as well as money amounting to E1 million. Also, Thulisile Dlamini, who grew up in the same area as the King, requested an opportunity to meet the head of State. Thulisile said she knew the King as a humble person from his youth days. “The King was fit like a soldier and he walked proudly like his father, King Sobhuza II. He never forgets the people he grew up with even after his return from school in England.  I was shocked when he requested to meet the people he grew up with even after his return from England,” she said. Thulisile said she sought audience with the King because they missed the opportunity to give him feedback after their previous meetings. She said the desired meeting was solely for feedback to the King.
