PREGNANT WOMAN STABS HUBBY

MBABANE – A seven-month pregnant wife has been arrested for stabbing her husband and further burning his passport, because he was allegedly cheating on her.

*Sindi admitted having stabbed her husband and further assaulting him with the handle of the knife, after committing the offence. Appearing before Mbabane Principal Magistrate Fikile Nhlabatsi, she was also charged for contravening Section 77 as read with Section 86 (1) of the Sexual Offence and Domestic Violence Act of 2018, *Sindi pleaded guilty to the charge.
She told the court that she committed the offence out of anger, after she discovered that her husband had been to South Africa with his girlfriend. She stated that what angered her the most was that her husband introduced his girlfriend to his relatives.

“I was angry to learn that my husband introduced his girlfriend to his relatives, which I have never seen. He did this at the time when I have been asking him to introduce me to his relatives. I felt so undermined to learn that he introduced his girlfriend and left me and his children behind,” she said. Sindi was sentenced to two years imprisonment, with an option to pay a fine of E5 000 in the first count. She was also sentenced to two years imprisonment with an option to pay a fine of E2 000 in the second count. However, the sentence was wholly suspended for a period of three years on condition she was not convicted of a similar offence during the period of suspension.
