MBABANE – The NEU Professionals Limited is set for a second recruitment drive for mental health and learning disability nurses in the country.

The recruitment company will be visiting the country to interview and recruit nurses to work within the United Kingdom (UK) National Health Service next month. Interviews will be conducted in Mbabane on April 17 and 18, 2024. On the previous recruitment drive, which was conducted last year by the NEU Professionals, 87 nurses were recruited. Many of the nurses were offered senior roles in the UK NHS. NEU Professionals Limited is an international healthcare recruitment agency headquartered in London.

Support

It was formed in 2013 with the specific aim of helping to support the NHS Trusts with the recruitment of nurses from the European Union (EU) and overseas. The Directors of NEU Professionals Limited, Edyta Ozbek, said their services were completely free for their candidates at all times and they were bound by a regulatory code of ethics that ensured the well-being of candidates. “Our pioneering approaches to the international recruitment field have led us to be able to offer opportunities to employers which cannot be emulated by others in the sector. Working with in-country stakeholders such as nursing unions, nursing associations, and universities we have developed a network of highly motivated and engaged bodies actively looking to send nurses to the UK via NEU Professionals as a trusted partner,” Ozbek said.

According to the recruitment company website, they will be offering in-person interviews for nurses with experience in mental health and learning disability. The website explains that during the event, nurses would have the opportunity to meet their outstanding team members who would help with any questions about working as a mental health and learning disability nurse in the UK as well as the recruitment process. According to the website, nurses must have a nursing Degree in post-secondary level, leading to registration as a general nurse and also have a minimum of 12 months work experience in mental health or learning disability. “To be shortlisted for an interview, your English language level must fall into one of the following categories; have an Occupational English Test (OET/ Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) certificate at the level required by the UK’s Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

For IELTS you must achieve at least 7 in reading, listening, and speaking, and at least 6.5 in writing. For OET, you must achieve at least a grade B (350 to 440) in reading, listening and speaking, and at least a grade C+ (300 to 340) in writing. or have an OET/ Academic IELTS examination already booked (proof of booking required) or do not have an English language certificate, but are willing to book the examination within three months of the interview, free English language training will be provided by NEU Professionals in this instance,” read the website in part.

English

Adding, the website revealed that candidates should provide proof of English language level by sharing evidence when submitting applications. According to the agency, applicants are also required to check their current level of English by completing a free English language test using the British Council’s English Score mobile application. “Once the test is completed, please take a screenshot of your score (i.e. A2, B1, B2, or C1) and attach it as part of the registration form. Please note that to be shortlisted for interviews, we require a minimum English language level of B2,” NEU Professionals said. The company went on to state that candidates who had already passed their English language examination would be prioritised for interviews/shortlisting. They strongly recommended that applicants should put every effort into booking their English language examination in advance. “Putting together a study plan to demonstrate your commitment and motivation to meeting this requirement is also recommended,” NEU Professionals advised. In last year’s recruitment, NEU Professionals highlighted that recruited nurses would receive additional support to meet UK nursing and midwifery registration requirements; including free specialised training to pass an approved English test. They assisted nurses with visas and flights and they promised to be in contact with them throughout their relocation and beyond, assisting with cultural adaptation. Furthermore, the company said the few unsuccessful candidates, who were predominantly midwives, did not meet the criteria to work as health nurses, so they were unable to recruit them on this occasion.

Ethical

“Unsuccessful candidates were advised to re-apply for other vacancies with NEU Professionals. NEU Professionals advises that any nurse or healthcare professional who is considering a career in the UK or abroad should ensure they work with an ethical agency such as NEU Professionals, who do not charge any fees to candidates for their recruitment services", Ozbek said.
