SIDVOKODVO – Can the Luke Commission (TLC) get assistance from government ?

This is yet to be seen as when the DPM addressed guests yesterday at the TLC premises in Sidvokodvo, she revealed that His Majesty King Mswati III has given Cabinet a directive to ensure that the Luke Commission does not crumble in view of the medical assistance they have been loyally extending to emaSwati over the years.

“Even during the 11th Parliament when we met the King, he always spoke fondly about The Luke Commission and directed us to ensure that it does not crumble. “The Luke Commission is very close to the King’s heart because of the medical assistance they continue to give emaSwati.

Responsibility

“As per the King’s directive, it is now our responsibility as Cabinet to ensure that The Luke Commission gets government’s support. Actually, I always make it a point to check with the minister of Health on how far he has gone to facilitating such support because this is what the King wants to see happening,” Dladla said.

Worth noting is that the Luke Commission recently appealed for government’s support in funding their operations, despite indicating that they did not want to be turned into a government parastatal. TLC’s Echo ‘Nomsa’ VanderWal reiterated the support they were requesting from government, stating that they were more than happy to assist emaSwati with their different medical ailments.

“Our objective is to ensure healthy Eswatini and we would definitely appreciate support from government to achieve those dreams. We are very thankful for the support we are getting from the King and Queen Mother. We are mindful of the fact that the Health PS is carrying huge responsibility on his shoulders given the health challenges,” she said.
